Why I Love Traveling: A Journey of Self-Discovery and Growth

Travelling = Self confidence + Explore + Discover + Character + Extrovert + Emotions + Talk with Self = Perfect Human

Before traveling became my passion, saving money was my priority.

I was born and raised in a middle-class family, where I experienced both good and bad times—mostly bad. Whenever a happy moment approached, like watching a movie, attending school trips, or going out with friends, I always thought about saving money. I never asked for extra expenses at home, which made me avoid going out. This habit turned me into an introvert, and I spent most of my teenage years (18-25) in solitude.

Once I started earning, my first goal was to repay my education loan. By the time I turned 26, I had fulfilled my responsibilities but felt stuck. Despite working for three years, I earned a modest salary due to limited opportunities in my town. This often left me frustrated, questioning my life’s purpose: What have I achieved? What is my life about? Will I ever succeed?

Then, I discovered traveling.

Traveling changed my mindset, helped me step out of my comfort zone, and allowed me to connect with new people, cultures, and experiences. It taught me that life isn’t just about responsibilities; it’s about exploring, learning, and embracing the unknown.

Today, I travel not just for adventure but for personal growth, self-confidence, and the joy of discovering the world beyond my comfort zone.

How Traveling Transformed My Life and Career

Realizing my struggles, I started looking for solutions. The answer was clear: to improve my career and financial situation, I needed to step out of my hometown, where opportunities were limited.

At the age of 26, I made a bold decision—to restart my career in a completely new field. This meant leaving my home and moving first to Pune and later to Mumbai.

Living in Mumbai was a challenge. The daily train commutes and the need to interact with people for even basic necessities pushed me beyond my comfort zone. However, this experience became my greatest teacher. I developed self-confidence, resilience, and adaptability, learning how to navigate a competitive environment and fight for opportunities.

Surprisingly, even these small travel experiences—commuting, exploring new cities, and meeting new people—helped shape me into a stronger, more determined person.

If you miss train, then your whole schedule will be disturbed. To catch train, i have to fight with public to enter into train. That’s train life in Mumbai.

My Early Years in Mumbai: A Journey of Growth

During my first two years in Mumbai, my salary was just enough to survive. With limited finances, I often skipped weekend trips with friends and instead traveled back to my hometown every weekend. This journey itself was memorable—I had to change three trains each time.

Life in Mumbai was fast-paced, but I moved at my own speed. While traveling, I often reflected on how my life was slowly transforming. Challenges no longer felt like roadblocks; instead, I developed a problem-solving mindset. Whenever I faced difficulties, I told myself, "No problem, I can handle this." This positive attitude became my biggest strength.

Whenever I felt overwhelmed, I found solace at Marine Drive in Mumbai. Sitting by the sea, watching the waves crash against the shore, I had deep conversations with myself. It became my place of reflection and self-discovery.

How I Fell in Love with Traveling

After two years in Mumbai, I switched jobs and made two career moves within a year—earning a 3X salary hike. This happened because of self-confidence and the ability to fight for better opportunities. With financial stability, I finally felt ready to chase my dreams.

I started making friends at work who shared my passion for traveling. Weekend trips, trekking, and exploring new places became a regular part of my life. My curiosity extended beyond the real world—I was also fascinated by the digital world. I began exploring blogs, vlogs, and content creation, sparking my interest in starting my own travel blog and vlog.

At first, I lacked writing skills, video editing knowledge, and even a good phone or camera. But instead of waiting for the perfect time, I started with what I had. I recorded videos in malls, captured train journeys, and spent my free time watching travel vlogs to learn. Step by step, I fell in love with traveling.

I began visiting my hometown less often, choosing instead to explore new places near Mumbai with friends or even solo.

One of my most unforgettable experiences was my first trek to Irshalgadh Fort during the monsoon. The journey was full of challenges—heavy rain, strong winds, and no shelter on the mountain. But reaching the top was an incredible feeling—a mix of achievement, confidence, and pure joy. That moment changed me. I felt like a waterfall of confidence had poured into my heart.

This experience ignited my passion for travel, and I knew I wanted to explore as much as possible.

How Traveling Changed My Life

After my first trekking experience at Irshalgadh Fort, I was hooked on exploring. I started searching for new places, planning weekend getaways, and organizing trips for my friends. What once seemed impossible—planning and executing a trip on my own—became second nature. With each small journey, my confidence grew.

I also ventured into solo travel and photography trips, which further enriched my experiences. My most memorable solo trip was to Manali in February 2021, right after the lockdown. I joined a group for camping, made new friends, and learned valuable lessons from fellow travelers.

Why Traveling is Life-Changing

1. Meeting New People

One of the best parts of traveling is connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. Conversations with strangers often turn into lifelong memories and even open doors to new opportunities. Traveling sharpens networking and communication skills, making every journey an opportunity to grow.

2. Experiencing Local Food

Tasting authentic dishes from different regions is both exciting and adventurous. I love trying new flavors, even those I wouldn't usually consider.

In Gujarati culture, we have a saying:
"ચાલશે, ફાવશે, ભાવશે" (It’s fine, it’ll work, I’ll manage).

This mindset teaches us adaptability and resilience—whether it’s adjusting to different cuisines, unexpected situations, or new environments.

3. Exposure to Different Cultures

Traveling pushes me beyond my comfort zone. Interacting with locals of different religions, traditions, and lifestyles has been a fulfilling and educational experience. Each journey expands my understanding of the world.

4. Finding Beauty in Nature

I love capturing picturesque landscapes and sharing them to bring my travel stories to life. Every destination adds another checkmark to my bucket list of breathtaking places.

5. Building Self-Confidence

Traveling transformed my personality. I went from being an introvert—struggling to express myself—to an extrovert who enjoys meeting new people and sharing experiences. The confidence I gained through travel has shaped who I am today.

From Traveler to Travel Content Creator

Traveling became more than just a hobby—it became my passion. I started seriously pursuing travel blogging and vlogging, creating content on social media, and connecting with fellow travelers. Now, I am always searching for new destinations and waiting for the next opportunity to explore.

Why Traveling Makes a Perfect Human

Traveling is more than just visiting new places—it shapes character, builds confidence, and expands perspectives. Every journey teaches something new, whether it’s adapting to different cultures, meeting diverse people, or overcoming challenges.

I love traveling because it helps me grow, explore, and discover not just the world, but also myself. Each adventure brings new experiences, emotions, and memories that enrich life in ways nothing else can.

That’s why I keep exploring—because traveling makes a perfect human. 🌍✨

Experience :

We had plan to reach at CSMT station, Mumbai around 5:00 a.m. I was not sure whether I would woke up or not because I came at home at 12:30 a.m from Marine drive. But somehow I managed my sleep and got up early around 4:00 a.m. I catch first fast train from Borivali to CSMT via Andheri.

I put whatsApp status about janzira fort, so my cousin seen that and called around 4:45 a.m. He wished me for birthday and asked about trip. I surprised to get his call for very early in morning.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal (CSMT)
5:30 a.m at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal (CSMT)

I reached there first from Borivali and Lokesh and Sanket reached there after 10-20 minutes. We have called to all other 3 guys and they just replied round and round. So we got out of there to go to Gateway of India by 5:30 a.m by taxi. We reached Gateway of India by 5:50 a.m and stood in queue for tickets of ferry towards Mandava. First ferry was of 6:10 a.m (It is hourly ferry service started from 6:10 a.m). We did not want to miss that otherwise our whole plan might be flop.

(Ticket cost from Gateway of India to Mandava is 125 ₹ for Single trip. Price may vary depends on ferry company.)
Ship was open roof and we sat on terrace of ship. In pic, we can see Taj Hotel and Gateway of India.

We (Me, Lokesh, Sanket) sat at boat and still they had not reached. So our boat took off without them and I was very excited for this trip. (When I was child, I was very fearing to sit in boat, ship, Now not.) It was around 1.45 hrs journey from Gateway to Mandava to reach. In between way to reach Mandava, experience was amazing, in middle there is nothing surrounding and we could watch only horizon and only water surrounding us. We met very beautiful flying birds on the way and also we have given food by throwing and they catch it and ate (amazing...huaaaa....). We clicked too much photos.

We reached Mandava around 8:00 a.m. We clicked many photos there as scene was very beautiful there. We didn't know what to next.

Mandava Ferry Station
Mandava Ferry Station

We have asked someone and got to know there would direct bus to reach Ali baug and fare was included in ferry ticket price. So reached there and we came to know that bus 🚌 departed just before 5 minutes. So each bus was reserved for each ferry passengers. We had asked rickshaw 🛺 but they need 500  just to reach Ali baug. We called other friends about their location and they also missed 7:10 a.m ferry. So there is no meaning to wait for them. We waited for around 40 minutes there to wait for next bus.

So we reached Ali baug by that bus by 9:30 a.m (23 kms). By reaching, we took breakfast and decide to wait for them. Now our friends reached Ali baug, so Lokesh helped to reach breakfast centre for breakfast.

After breakfast, we went to bus station to ask for next bus for Murud. We(Me and Sanket) came to know that it is not fixed when it would come. Suddenly one taxi driver come to us for Murud. He charged 100 rs per person for Eeco car. That was good. Even bus took 70 rs per person. So we decided to go by taxi 🚕 to reach Murud (54 kms).

We reached Murud by 11:45 a.m. We reached at ticket window for boat from Murud to Janzira fort as fort was in between of lake(That's why it is hard to won and called only Unconquered fort in Maharastra). One of friend stood in line. After 10 minutes we came to know that ticket windows was going to be closed for 1 hour due to very much rush in that day. So we went for some light breakfast but there was not good food. So we ate chani ber and drunk sugar cane juice. One of our friend still stood in queue. At 12:30 p.m windows opened and took ticket (Cost 70 rs).

From here, we are traveled by local boat service to fort. As fort in between Sea.

We reached back to Murud around 3:30 p.m. We called our driver to drop back to Ali Baugh. We reached Murud around 5:30 p.m. There was last ferry from Mandava to Gateway of India of 6:10 p.m. There were 3-4 companies that run ferry service. We inquired at all but no next ferry was available. That was also our bad luck that we could not go back by ferry to reach Gateway of India. Now we had only 2 options go via taxi or bus to reach Panvel. Bus time was not fixed and we took taxi and reached panvel by 8:30 p.m. We caught train 🚂 to reach our home station. I reached home Borivali around 11:00 p.m.

That was amazing trip and amazing birthday.
