Galteshwar Mahadev Temple

 




On this holy occasion of Shravan, seeking the blessing of Mahadev is a must and you may get it in Timba village. In this village, there is a famous temple of Mahadev on the banks of river Tapi, which is known as Galteshwar Mahadev Temple. This temple is approximately 31 km from Surat railway station via Kamrej Highway. 

 The specialty of this temple is, that there is a 62 ft long divine idol of Mahadev. By just looking at the idol one feels inner peace and calmness. Even a replica of Kailash Parvat has been made behind the Mahadev idol. Within the Kailash Parvat, there is a museum of 12 Jyotirlingas which are situated all over India. The entry to the museum is from the left side of the idol and the exit is from the right. There is no entry fee to visit the museum but photography even through mobile is prohibited. 

Behind the idol of Mahadev, 4 separate kunds have been built which are filled with water from the Triveni sangam of the Tapi river, Mahisagar, and Gupt Ganga River. People do visit this kund for a holy bath. There is an entry fee of Rs. 50 per person to visit these kunds. Separate sections for male, female, and children is built and a changing room facility is also available.


Other than these attractions, there are 2 separate temples where you can say your prayers. There is a huge campus around these temples which is also facilitated with benches and shades to sit or relax along with the view of Tapi river. In front of the temple, there is a small shop that consists of small idols of Mahadev, some bracelets, and chains. Within the campus, there is a canteen for all the devotees.

There are even rooms available for accommodation.

If you are traveling by private vehicle then there is a parking charge of Rs. 10 for 2 wheeler and Rs. 30 for 4 wheeler.


The best time to visit this July to February.

You can easily spend 2-3 hours here enjoying the view and spirituality.

There are no entry fees to enter the temple, except for the parking charges. It is open from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. You can visit any time of the day.
